How Astrocartography Led Me to the Magic of Mexico City

On New Year’s Eve 2022, I boarded a plane to Mexico City with no job, no savings, and no real plan. The only thing guiding my decision was something most people have never heard of: astrocartography.
In its simplest terms, it's your birth chart on a world map. Wherever the planets were the moment you were born, if you return to that place, you will experience the themes of that planet.
Mexico City happened to sit directly on my Jupiter MC line, the place in the world where my chart supposedly promised luck, expansion, and opportunity when it comes to career, social status, and legacy.
For a few months leading up to the trip, I had been heavily into astrocartography. As a Sagittarius Mercury, I tend to learn by doing.
About two weeks before New Year’s Eve, I decided I was going to volunteer in Mexico City through a program called Worldpackers. The concept is simple. You stay at a hostel for free and get some meals included in exchange for working a few hours each week. My role was teaching yoga on the rooftop every morning.
At the time, I didn’t know nearly as much about astrocartography as I do now. I was mostly going off general vibes. Jupiter rules luck, growth, expansion, and higher education. I figured I would need some luck traveling out of the country for the first time with no money, no job, and no ability to speak Spanish.
Remote Activation
The first strange thing that happened occurred before I even arrived in Mexico. I now know this as remote activation. Remote activation is when you begin to feel the energy of a planetary line before you physically get there.
At first, I thought this might be a little crazy until I later saw another astrocartographer mention the same phenomenon.
A few days before leaving, I posted a video on TikTok about astrocartography. In the video, a girl explained how men were suddenly lavishing her with gifts and paying for things while she was on vacation. She said this was completely out of the norm.
I stitched the video and explained that astrocartography might be the reason. She was likely traveling along a Venus DC line, which is associated with attraction, gifts, and romantic attention.
Much to my surprise, the video blew up. It ended up getting around 50,000 views, thousands of likes, and hundreds of comments from people asking me to read their astrocartography charts.
I had already been doing tarot readings and astrology birth chart readings for years. I thought, why not add astrocartography readings to the mix? This is one of the ways a Jupiter MC line can manifest: luck, expansion, and momentum around career or public recognition.
Arriving in Mexico City
The next bit of Jupiter luck appeared as soon as I arrived.
I knew I would be sharing a room with the other volunteers. I was generally fine with that. But after a long day of travel, on New Year’s Eve, I assumed everyone would be partying. I just wanted to sleep.
When I checked in, the front desk told me they did not have any shared rooms available. I would have to take a private room for the first few days.
I remember thinking I could get used to this everything-going-my-way Jupiter energy.
The hostel itself was another stroke of luck. It was brand new, incredibly clean, had a rooftop, multiple bars, alcohol vending machines, and it was located in one of the best parts of the city. We were also a five-minute walk from one of the highest-rated taco spots in Mexico City.
My job was mostly socializing with travelers, drinking tequila, meeting new people, and occasionally teaching yoga. Several guests warned me not to get used to it. Most hostels, they said, are not this amazing. Later, I would find out how right they were.
Becoming the Good Luck Charm
The luck seemed to follow me throughout my six-week stay in Mexico City. It ended up being one of my favorite stops on a two-year journey.
I made a lot of friends, had plenty of drinks, and danced endlessly. Growing up in Florida, I have always loved Latin music. I was usually the one dancing around the hostel.
At one point, the hostel manager even scheduled me to teach a Latin dance class, which I thought was absurd. I have no training. I just love to dance.
He said he always saw me dancing around the hostel and thought I would be great at it. Luckily, no one showed up to the class, so I did not actually have to teach it.
In a funny way, I did become known for something. The MC, or Medium Coeli, in astrology does not just represent career or social status. It also represents what you become known for. At the hostel, I became known as a little good luck charm.
A Few Lucky Escapes
There were several moments where I narrowly avoided trouble.
One night, I went out with some guys from the hostel. Later, as we walked past the hostel again, I decided I was tired and stayed in while they continued on.
The next morning, they told me they had gone to a bar where the bill came out astronomically high. They argued with staff, and one of them had to stay behind at the bar with both of their phones while the other was escorted by three men to an ATM to withdraw more cash. He was basically held hostage until they paid and very shaken up about it. I could not have been happier to have gone to bed early that night.
Another night, a group I had been out with continued the night after I left. They ended up getting extorted by the police and had to pay around $100 USD. Again, I had somehow avoided it.
Manifesting a Free Night Out
One night, I was heading to a club with a friend from the UK and a guy she liked from the hostel. Before leaving, I stopped on the stairs, grabbed her hands, and said:
“I am manifesting that someone is going to pay for everything for me tonight.”
When we got to the club, there was a huge cover charge. I told them I might go back to the hostel and let them continue without me.
The guy she was with immediately said, “No, come on. Don’t break up the group. I will pay for you.”
It was not flirty. He was not hitting on me. He just wanted us all to stay together.
The next morning, my friend asked, “How the hell did you do that?”
A Close Call in Tepito
Once more, I was out with my same friend. We ended up in Tepito, which happened to be the only place I was ever told not to go to in Mexico City because it’s dangerous.
I was quite drunk, and we hadn’t slept from the night before. Apparently, a woman was harassing my friend, and i hadn't noticed even though she was literally sitting at the same table as me.
There was an empty seat next to her, which she had put her purse on. Some lady came up, moved the purse, and took the chair. There was a whole sea of empty chairs around, but they were simply trying to pick a fight.
When my friend explained it to me the next day, I thought, Oh my gosh, why didn’t you say anything?
Had I been aware in the moment, I wouldn’t have stood for it. But perhaps this was part of my luck in action. I hardly needed to get into a fight in a dangerous neighborhood in Mexico.
The Flipside of Jupiter
The last bit of luck I can recall from my Mexico City trip was also a reminder of Jupiter’s downside.
I had been spending excessively. Jupiter rules expansion, but that expansion can also show up as overindulgence.
A few days before I was supposed to leave for London, I didn’t even have the money for my ticket yet. I went live on TikTok doing readings. Suddenly, a wave of people began booking readings, and I made around $500 in one live session. That alone paid for my ticket to London.
A Note on Astrocartography
When thinking about astrocartography, it’s important to remember that the sign and house your planet occupies in your birth chart can change the “flavor” of the energy.
My Jupiter is in Virgo, which rules service, routines, and the workplace. So it makes sense that my business got a boost while I was volunteering there.
One Small Misstep
I can only recall one bad thing that happened to me personally: food poisoning.
I take full responsibility for it. I bought tacos from an upside-down shopping cart on the street.
But astrology still makes sense here. Virgo rules the digestive system, and Virgo placements tend to have sensitive stomachs. Jupiter rules expansion, and it expands whatever it touches. In my case, that expansion manifested as a Virgo-themed digestive disaster.
Next Stop: London
Mexico City was only the beginning. I continued on solo traveling for two years.
In my next post, I’ll talk about London, which was a tale of two lines: both my Mercury MC and my Jupiter DC line. That experience was completely different, and the story is worth its own post.
